On Thursday, May 1 from 5:30-8:00 p.m., United Way, in partnership with UNC Charlotte’s Center for Adolescent Literacies, will offer a training session for volunteers focused on helping children whose first language isn’t English build their reading skills. Dr. Adriana Medina, an Associate Professor in the Department of Reading & Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte will lead the session. This is the second workshop offered in our Tutor Training 201, which provides more in-depth instruction and guidance for volunteers working one-on-one with students. For more information and to register, follow this link.
